ShipStation API Carriers UK

For UK-based ShipStation API accounts, you have immediate access to GlobalPost, EVRi, DPD, Royal Mail and Yodel services with ShipStation API Carriers (with more carriers to come soon!). There’s no need to create and connect individual carrier accounts. Activate ShipStation API Carriers by adding the billing method you wish to use to purchase your labels and add funds to your ShipStation API Balance.

Evri provides domestic drop-off and scheduled collection services. When using collection services, we automatically schedule a next-day pickup for those parcels with Evri. DPD and Yodel provide domestic drop-off services for either "print at home" or "print at store".

Requirements

  • Activate ShipStation API Carriers in your ShipStation API Account (steps included in the following section)

  • Add funds to your ShipStation API Balance

    You can add funds using ShipStation API’s add_funds endpoint, which must first be enabled by the ShipStation API Support team. If you'd like to add funds via this endpoint, please submit a request to our support team.

  • All shipments require weight and dimensions (we recommend using grams or kilograms for weight units)

  • First and last names are required for both Ship To and Ship From addresses

  • GlobalPost and Yodel parcels must be dropped off at a drop-off point (pickups not yet available for GlobalPost and Yodel from ShipStation API services).

Activate ShipEngine Carriers

To start using ShipStation API Carriers, you must activate it by adding the payment method you wish to use for your labels. Log in to ShipStation API and do the following:

You will now see your available carriers under Setup > Carriers, where you can also find their unique Carrier IDs. You can also make a List Carriers call to view all of your Carrier IDs and available services.

Be sure to also add funds to your ShipStation API Balance so you can start purchasing your labels!

ShipEngine can print your brand logo on shipping labels from carriers that support this feature. Add your logo in the ShipEngine Dashboard.

File a Claim for Loss or Damage

Should any of your GlobalPost shipments that include loss/damage coverage become lost or damaged in transit, you can file a claim within 90 days of the shipment date.

GlobalPost Claim limits vary by country:

  • 🇺🇸 US-based accounts include up to $100 in loss/damage protection for Standard shipments and up to $200 in loss/damage protection for Plus shipments.

  • 🇬🇧 UK-based accounts include up to £50 in loss/damage protection for Standard shipments plus the cost of the label.

Requirements for Filing a Claim

  • All claims must be filed by the shipper, not the recipient.

  • Damage claims can be submitted at any time. Claims for lost packages cannot be submitted until 30 days after the shipment date.

  • All claims must be submitted within 90 days after the shipment date.

How to File a Claim

  1. Go to the GlobalPost Claim Form page.

  2. Fill in the online form:

    • You will need a good contact email, the shipment tracking number, the shipment date, and the claim amount.

    • Do not include the shipping cost when filling in the Claim Amount field. If the claim is approved, the shipping cost will be added to your total payment.

    • For damage claims, upload an image of the damaged shipment.

  3. Send the form when all fields have been completed.

    • If you submit a partially completed form, GlobalPost will not be able to process your claim and will notify you via email. Complete any missing information on your previously submitted claim form and resubmit it, or complete a new claim.

Once a claim has been approved, the refund will be credited to your shipping account within 3 business days. It can take up to 3 weeks for a claim to be processed. Please contact GlobalPost if you have not received a response to your claim within 3 weeks.

If you feel your claim was incorrectly denied, please submit a new claim with new or updated information.

Service

Description

Courier Collection: Schedule Pickup

You can create a label using either of Evri’s Courier Collection services (Evri Domestic or Evri Postable) available in ShipStation API. Once you create a label, we automatically send a pickup request to Evri for the following business day. The collection cost will be included in the label fee.

To change or cancel Courier Collection requests, you must contact ShipEngine support.

The cutoff time for collection is just past midnight. For example, if you need service for tomorrow, the latest time you can submit the collection request is by 00:59 AM on 25/05/23.

Postable

"Postable" means anything that can fit into a letterbox, such as large letters, books, or small toys.

Residential and workplace deliveries of Postable packages do not require a person to receive the package.

Items that can be sent as Postable may be:

  • Up to 23cm wide

  • Up to 35cm long

  • Between 1-3cm deep

  • Weigh between 250 g - 1 kg

Paperless Label Support

You can request a paperless label download link instead of a label PDF when creating a label. Add the display_scheme property to your call with the value paperless or label_and_paperless. You can then email the paperless label to be used when dropping off the package with the carrier.

Pickup

  • Pickups are scheduled when the label is created.

    • Pickup Date will be set for the first available slot within the next 5 business days. Same day collections are not available.

    • Sunday Pickups are not supported, you will need to change the order date to the next day to create a label.

  • The timeslot shown is an estimate from Royal Mail, they do not guarantee pickup times.

  • If a label is voided the pickup will be cancelled at the same time.

Discounted Rates

Royal Mail from ShipStation API includes access to pre-negotiated discounted rates!

Services to the USA

Due to the removal of de minimis exemption Royal Mail ShipStation API from has suspended services to the USA.

Yodel from ShipStation API Services

Post-Shipping Charges

Certain courier-imposed fees may be assessed after you create a label and dispatch the parcel. 

These fees include, but are not limited to:

  • Excess weight surcharges

  • Out-of-area surcharges

  • Courier pick-up surcharges

These fees are assessed by the courier and reported back to ShipStation API. Once ShipStation API has received notification of these charges, they will be deducted from your ShipStation API balance.
