Action Required: 🇳🇿 New Zealand Border Levy Changes

Effective April 1, 2026, a new NZD $2.21 (+ GST) levy applies to low-value air freight consignments entering New Zealand. This fee is separate from the 15% GST are already being collected, and it applies per package, not per item.

SEKO Requirements

Connection Requirements:

  • An active account with SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics
  • Configure your SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics account to integrate with ShipStation API.

    Contact your SEKO account representative to start the process. They will negotiate rates, a Service Level Agreement, and more before they set up your account for use with ShipStation API.

  • Your SEKO account username and API key

    You must contact SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics and have them set up your account for ShipStation API. They'll provide you with the Username and API Key necessary to connect your account.

🇦🇺 Manifesting Required for Australia-based Accounts

SEKO requires you to manifest your shipments prior to pickup. To manifest your shipments, log into the SEKO Logistics portal.

The commitment between a supplier and a customer defining which service will be provided, how the service will be measured, and what remedies or penalties (if any) may arise should the service fail, change, or be unmet.

Connect a SEKO Account to ShipEngine

To connect your SEKO account to ShipEngine:

  1. Select the SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics tile.

The carrier can be used to create domestic shipping labels.

The carrier can be used to create international shipping labels.

ShipStation API will submit international customs declarations electronically to the carrier.

The carrier can be used to create domestic return labels.

When an API call is made to the Rates endpoint, ShipEngine will return estimated shipping rates for the carrier based on the connected account information and shipment details.

Shipment insurance, provided by the shipment's selected carrier, can be added to the shipment in ShipStation API. This insurance would be in addition to any default coverage already provided by that carrier.

Shipping labels created for this carrier will include a tracking number that can be used to view the shipment status on the carrier's tracking website. Tracking may not be available for all shipping services.

Shipment manifests and End of Day documents are submitted electronically to the carrier by ShipEngine.

Shipment manifests and End of Day documents are generated as PDF files that can be printed along with shipping labels. Because these documents are not electronically submitted, physical copies must be provided to the carrier.

ShipEngine can print your brand logo on shipping labels from carriers that support this feature. Add your logo in the ShipEngine Dashboard.

ShipEngine can include additional information on a shipping label that is specified in the label request, if supported by the carrier.

This carrier can be used to create multi-package shipments, where multiple labels are created for a single shipment and the individual packages are linked together in a single shipment record with a master tracking number.

You can connect this carrier to ShipStation API multiple times using different accounts and choose which account will be used to create each shipment.

SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics Notes

  • Pickups must be scheduled through SEKO directly. You can contact SEKO to schedule the pickup by calling 866-268-5263.
  • SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics requires you to manifest all shipments through the SEKO portal prior to pickup.
  • 🇦🇺 Australia-specific limitations:

    • SEKO rates exclude GST (Australia’s Tax on goods + services) for AU accounts.
  • ShipStation API does not support OmniReturns by SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics. Any returns created through OmniReturns should be managed directly with SEKO Omni-Channel Logistics.
  • Rates for SEKO are not yet available in ShipEngine.
